概要 We identified glyceraldehyde-derived AGE formed from glyceraldehyde and N-alpha-acetyllysine in the physiological conditions at pH 7.4, and also formed from glyceraldehyde and N-alpha-acetylarginine. New AGE, named GLAP (glyceraldehyde-derived pyridinium compound) was identified as 3-hydroxy-5-hydroxymethyl-pyridinium derivative formed from lysine residue. Another AGE was identified as 5-methyl-imidazoline-4-one derivative formed from arginine residue. We previously revealed that GLAP caused oxidative stress in HL-60 cells. In the present study, GLAP was detected in the plasma protein of streptozotocin-induced diabetes rats using fluorescence HPLC method. Therefore, GLAP might be related in the progression of diabetic complications. In addition, glyceraldehyde-derived AGEs will be a biomarker in the AGE related disease.
